A picture says a thousand words

Poway's baseball team photographer captured this collision at home plate, John Peabody of Rancho Bernardo (yes, of thong and broomstick fame) deliberately steamrolling Poway's catcher in a play at home plate. The rules absolutely forbid this and reqire an ejection (NFHS 3-3-1n and 8-4-2b) on safety grounds. The common directive is "avoid contact": slide or run around the fielder attempting to make a play. The assratchet in the navy blue shirt standing foreground left (he calls himself an "umpire") chose to overlook this and ruled Peabody safe at home.

The question then becomes, do you really need a thousand words for "asshole"?

  • If you think it's better now

...think again. I haven't read riverbend in a long while. She occasionally goes quiet, partly due to gaps in connectivity or power, or for safety…

  • Deficits, sweet deficits!

Josh Marshall covers it well, as always. El Presidente is about to ram a spending bill even bigger than the Iraq war down our throats. It will…

  • A little bird tells me

...not to believe everything you read. (She was there, and says much of the details are wrong, twisted to glorify the mercenary commander.)
