Thank You Lord, For Taking Bill Wirtz - Jason Lindquist
Idle ramblings of an idle mind
Thank You Lord, For Taking Bill Wirtz
Long-time Blackhaws president William Wirtz died late last year. But it's Blackhawks fans who've gone to heaven. They hadn't even finished tamping down the dirt on the old man's grave when succeeding son Rocky announced that eight home games would be televised this year on Comcast Sports Net, ending a decade-plus draught motivated by his father's insane greed. The season had already begun, it was the best they could manage on such short notice.

Well now the cherry's been put on that sundae, and it's a fat, fat cherry to boot: Next season all 82 home and road games will be on TV, in high definition. Maybe 20 of them on WGN, the first carried on free TV there since the early 1970s.

However, some bridges apparently can't be rebuilt. Pat Foley will not be returning from the IHL Wolves to call play-by-play.
