One Last Re-Up - Jason Lindquist
Idle ramblings of an idle mind
One Last Re-Up
All the angels sing
'Bout Jesus' mighty soul
And they shield you with their wings
Keep you close to the Lord
Don't pay heed to temptation
For his hands are so cold
You gotta help me keep the devil
Way down in the hole...

One last time, folks. The Wire is back on HBO for its final season. Unless you're not into television, not watching is really unforgivable. Find the time, set the TiVo, catch a flight to Baltimore if you have to.

Don't make me send Omar after you.

This season's opening credits roll over Tom Waits' "Way Down In The Hole" covered by Steve Earle.

Current Mood: excited excited
Current Music: Steve Earle-Way Down In the Hole

I have tried several times to get into the Wire, but just have not been able too - there are too many plot lines and too many characters to follow, and I always get all confused.

That's very true. HBO's been running a recap special, The Wire Odyssey to bring people up to speed. I don't know if it's enough, but when all else fails, the Wikipedia entries really do a great job covering characters in appropriate depth.

If you can't keep all the street dealers straight, that's okay. Even I have a hard time recognizing them. The ones you have to worry about show up often enough you'll remember them.

Some day when I have more free time than I do now, I'll probably just start watching the DVDs from Netflix from the beginning. Maybe it will make more sense then.

McNulty has a drink

Well, even if you go the DVD route, it's worth getting a head start and catching up on the first four seasons in four and a half minutes
