The folks we take care of are tremendously thankful for what we're doing. ANd we always thank them in return. There is a huge difference between what we're doing and what they're doing. Anybody can do laundry or pass out drinks. Not everybody can say, "I hate when it happens, but if it's going to happen, I want to get the call," as one San Diego fireman said to me this evening. These guys look forward to it, and that's the only way the job gets done well.
We have all the food and supplies we need at Poway. Twice today, ice cream company trucks pulled up and donated large quantities of product. The response is overwhelming, and overwhelmingly positive. I've never been more proud of my community than I am right now.
