For reference

...if Stephen Colbert goes suddenly missing sometime before January 2009, this is why.

For as much as I disagree with some people in government, going so far as to say that some of them are bad leaders and have no business holding public office, I give most of them credit for having a sense of humor. Justice Scalia was in stitches when Colbert took his shot over the "obscene gesture" a few weeks ago. Halfway through the bit, El Presidente, on the other hand, was not laughing anymore.

The truth hurts, don't it, motherfucker?

[2:25pm addendum] Editor And Publisher had this quote in their article on Colbert:
“This was anti-Bush,” said one attendee. “Usually they go back and forth between us and him.” Another noted that Bush quickly turned unhappy. “You could see he stopped smiling about halfway through Colbert,” he reported.
No. It wasn't entirely anti-Bush. He was attacking both Shrub and the press corps at the same time. His whole schtick has been lampooning the obsequious and spineless nature of the press corps.
