There And Back Again

Zach and I ran up to Rancho Cucamonga last night to see Stockton (Oakland's single-A affiliate) play the Quakes (Anaheim's affiliate.) Danny Putnam is playing for Stockton, following three years at Stanford and four as Zach's teammate at Rancho Bernardo. Danny went 0-fer, with two walks, two strikeouts, and hit into a double play with the bases loaded. That's probably the first game I've ever seen him not hit at least one out. Zach blames the previous night for the lack of fireworks (on-field... there was a pyrotechnic display after the game.) Danny homered off of Quakes reliever and ex-RB teammate Justin Dowdy.

I worked Grad Night again Wednesday night. Summer construction kicked into overdrive shortly after it ended. By Thursday afternoon, the entire perimeter of the main campus had been fenced off and a large water tank moved into the area behind the gym. I don't think there's a section of concrete left that hasn't been cut or marked for cutting. I think all the underground utilities are being replaced this summer. (They need it, we have a water main break about twice a month, and we had a gas leak next to the gym back in February.) I'm going to run over this morning to take "before" pictures of the campus.
