I love the IRS

I got two letters from the IRS. One tells me that I made a mistake on my 2001 return, and they have corrected it. The result of the correction is still a zero balance--they owe me nothing, I owe them nothing. The other tells me that they diverted some-or-all of my 2000 return's overpayment. They applied it to "other taxes owed" instead of to my 2001 return. The "other taxes" specified at the bottom of the letter? My 2001 return.

This is your government at work.
