Everything Old Is New Again

wired.com ran an article on the use of iPods to steal software from computers in stores and other businesses. This passage cracks me up:

Ironically, Microsoft has pioneered an easy-to-use installation scheme on th Mac [for Office X] that makes the Mac software easy to pilfer. [...] When installing Office, users simply drag and drop the Office folder to their hard drive.

Microsoft pioneered this? That's a fucking riot. Back in the days before software grew so large it couldn't fit on a single floppy, and started storing pieces in the System Folder, registering over the net, and other such activities, this is exactly how all software was installed!
