David Caruso IS... the Sunglasses of Justice! Only on CBS!
Matt Fraction via Warren Ellis: Endless Caruso One-Liners. A seven-and-a-half minute montage of Horatio Caine one-liners (often punctuated by Caruso donning the trademark Sunglasses Of Justice™) at the end of CSI: Miami teasers, as they smash-cut to the main title. David Spade is also aware of the cliche. "That Who song can make any dialogue rock. It's almost as over-the-top as Caruso. But now Caruso delivers every line, even the lame ones, as if the Who is about to kick in his door."

There's also this collection of teaser clips packaged in silly "clip of the week" fashion. He also gives Batman the same treatment, complete with CSI: Miami-style main titles.

You know, CSI: Miami has become the most expensive television show of all time to produce. Why? Because this is what happens every time David Caruso parks a car. (The license fee on that dramatic music is expensive.)

Why did he take his stupid sunglasses off when getting out of the car, and then put them back on? And an explosion of that magnitude at that distance would know the silly fucker off his feet and singe his hair. Also, black in that climate? Jesus, no.

I know, I know...

I think the point is that Caine is so cool and collected that he defies physics. Especially his hair.

As for the sunglasses, I think he does it infrequently enough that I usually have to pop the TiVo back to check if I really did see it. From watching Too Much TV, I did that with my glasses a lot in 8th grade, and it indeed made me look like a total dork. (As opposed to the partial dork I was otherwise.) So, yeah...

Several drinking games assign a drink for the dark outfits. That one properly references Crockett and Tubbs. (Pastels: Not Just Fashion, They're PRACTICAL!)

That said, it's another hot sunny day here in inland San Diego, and I'm wearing a black "Jesus Says 'Don't Be A Dick'" T-shirt.
